3D workshop week 3

Hi everyone this week my post is about my first lesson in the workshop doing woodwork to create a 3D model. This week was really fun because we got to use a different material and use tools around the workshop. To create my model I had to use bits of scrap wood and put it together to make a building of some sort. This is what mine looked like at the end of the lesson however it isn't completed because the lesson was cut short.

My woodwork model

I think it looks nice considering it was put together without creating a design first and it is fun to just work and not worry about how it will look at the end. I did start to add another piece to my model however I didn't have time to stick it on so I placed it on where it is supposed to go and took a picture of it.

As you can see it isn't finished and the wire at the top needs to be cut off and then the wood needs to be stuck on with glue and wire. I think it looks a lot better with this bit on it and I will have to stick it on the next time I am in the workshop.

Next week for my final lesson doing the 3D workshop I have to remake my model but change things to make it look refined and change the bits I don't like. The one thing I will be changing is the height of my model because I think it isn't tall enough for a building and it would make it noticeable. I hope you enjoyed my post and I hope you will read the next one. Bye! :-)

3D workshop week 2

Hey guys this is my second post for my 3D workshop that I have been doing on a Thursday. This week we had to make 3D models out of card and masking tape to look like buildings. All we had to do was start with a shape and build it up from there. We had to cut the shapes out with craft knives and we had to use them safely so we didn't harm anyone. This is a picture of my model :

This was a good task however I preferred last weeks lesson more because I found this one a bit difficult and I think my model looked messy. It's a great way to design 3D objects but I definitely need a bit more practice with it because there were a few problems with the model. The first problem was that my craft knife was blunt so it made all the sides on the card look jagged and untidy and the back of my model as seen below looked flat because I worked on it from one direction.

Altogether I think my model looked okay but there are a couple of things I need to improve or change. I look forward to using this technique in other pieces of my work and I hope they will look better than this one. In my next blog I will have been in the actual workshop to make wood models. Hope you are all liking my posts x
